What has been done since the last update:

All maps are in the game. 93 total.
Monsters and monster groups are properly attached to the appropriate maps & encounters.
Monster XP & gold values have been properly balanced.
Monster AI & monster abilities are all in the game.
All monster visuals (both sane and insane) are done.
All songs are in game.
The cutscene visuals are almost all done.
The flying dragon “vehicle” code for the world map code is done.
The party changing menu is done.
Various bugs have been fixed.

What remains to be done:

Necronomicon (aka Epitaph from Breath of Death VII)
Finish writing and inserting the dialogue
Insert the remaining story scenes
Finish putting in chest contents
Finish balancing monster stats
Put in some more restore spots in dungeons
Add townsfolk to remaining towns
A few miscellaneous playtesting suggestions we’ve received
Finish attaching special effect visuals to abilities
Finish remaining cutscenes

Once again, thank you everyone for your continued patience!

EDIT: My initial estimate of 1-2 days for all the monster stuff was WAY off. Just getting the XP/Gold rewards properly balanced was 2 days by itself.

  1. Don´t worry, sometime in the summer next year I see many big sites posting news “The Indie Games Winter Uprising finally ended!” =P

It might even be more of an eye catcher than “CSTW released”. Okay enough with the kiddin. Seeing how much time it takes and reading numbers like 93 maps make me want CSTW even more. I´m pretty sure that, now that big sites have an eye on it, they will all at least check it out and given how well it turned out (so far) I´m pretty sure that you have a good chance of getting enough attention to make it all worth your time.

You learned a lot from the first joined marketing effort of Xbox indie developers – next time I´m sure it will all turn out even better.

  2. Yeah, that’s pretty much the way it is – occasionally something will end up taking about the amount of time I thought it would. Very rarely, something will turn out to be quicker and easier than I expected, but mostly it seems like everything takes 2 to 3 times as much time as expected.

Plus, I underestimated how much time it would take to run the Indie Games Winter Uprising. I’m still glad I did it though since it helped the service as a whole and the other developers. Plus even though our game is late, I’m sure some of that IGWU attention will rub off on us when we finally do release.

  3. I hope you can get it done relatively soon. It’d be a shame if it slid back past December, as then it’d pretty much miss the Winter Games Uprising plan.

    Best of luck to you!

  4. Programing always works out that way. If you think something will take ten hours to do, you then estimate you’ll get it done in 15 to pad it and be safe, and then after 40 hours of cursing at the bugs and unexpected problems it’s finally done.

Best of luck with getting the game done before xmas. =)

  5. ugh! c’mon. how may times has this been delayed?! Id rather have a set time 9 months in the future rather than nonstop delays. this aint comin out til feb.
