Jan 252011
RPGamer just released their 2010 awards and we came out rather well.
Breath of Death VII & Cthulhu Saves the World tied for Best Downloadable Game of the Year.
And Cthulhu Saves the World got 3rd place in the Best Battle System category (after FFXIII and Resonance of Fate).
Let’s see how many awards we can win in 2011!
Sorry I didn’t respond earlier, school, but I bought the game before the year was out. Didn’t even download the trial. I told as many people as I could about it. I haven’t finished it, but I feel I get more of the jokes. Also, the humor seems more integrated.
I also like the boss music, but I could get more into that later.
Good stuff–you deserve this praise. If I had my way all RPGs would be 2D with pixels. RPG’s have been my constant companion throughout all my years. I am fortunate to have a wife who acts more like a dude and supports my addiction. I would very much like longer games from you, but I understand the time sink making an RPG takes up. I have been soloing (for the most part) an NES retro-clone since September and I only have 25% done and hundreds of hours sunk into it. I am using the original NES color-palette–making 4-color sprites and maptiles is a study in inventiveness.
I would love to see you guys kick out a serious game, though do not read that as declaration of disapproval of your two prior efforts.
I will freely call Zeboyd games my hero. You inspire me. And for the record, FF XIII was, at best, an RPG-simulator with characters that made me wish Final Fantasy IV never came out and set the standard for player characters to talk. The Prince of Midenhall saved the damn world just fine without opening his mouth once.
Well done. Many congratulations!
*been above FFXlll (sorry, late night XD)
Congrats! IMO you should have been about FFXlll for Best Battle System though. They way they took it ruined the game for me. Yours may not have as many unique changes from the norm, but at least I’m not falling asleep doing battles in CSTW.
Congratulations! The acclaims are well deserved. Your games, and the Indie Games WInter Uprising, have inspired me to create my own XBLIG RPG.
