Legend of the Time Star is one of the first Kickstarters I have found myself contemplating backing. I sincerely hope it does get the attention and funding it is seeking. I have no problems waiting until almost 2015 if the finished project is worthwhile.

Kotaku covered the failure of the Class of Heroes kickstarter today: http://kotaku.com/5907482/when-a-kickstarter-fails

Unfortunately the people behind that project still seem to be unaware of many of the mistakes they made. Furthermore, they continue to imply that the failure of their project has doomed all future efforts to use Kickstarter for localization of JRPG's by anybody else.

Steam sales are a great boost for *good* games like yours.
If for some other reason, a mediocre game gets on sale, the effects of the sale will be very negative
ppl buying the game would talk bad not only ab the game but also ab the developers, etc
the conclusions on this post, are correct.
Also, the mouth to mouth on this type of games works like a charm.
I got the games bc a thread on Steam forums
<a href="http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2680092" rel="nofollow">"The Most Underrated Games List on Steam"</a>
culdn't be happier.
Best of luck, and willing to buy more games from you ppl

My view on it is the Class of Heroes 2 kickstarter is a definite example of what not to do. They didn't offer a digital download till like the $70 tier because they didn't want to get sub par number of limited edition sales due to everybody buying digital, and costing them money. I agree that they probably should of charged more for the limited edition and offered a normal price digital download along with it, so they wouldn't of needed as many LE sells to break even.

If a project gets backed and, for whatever reason, fails, then the devs should open-source what <i>was</i> completed.

As I have too many games and not enough time to play them as-is, I refuse to spend more than $20 on a new game -- there are, of course, a few exceptions like the GTA series and Gran Turismo series where my brain goes into fanboi-mode and <i>have</i> to have them on release day.

Class of Heroes 2 looks great but I don't have a PSP, nor will I ever buy one, no matter how many more touchscreens and knobs they add.

Honestly, if the devs are bothered by the fact that people think they owe something to them, just because they backed the project.. I would like to say to them, "Just ignore them, they know what they were getting themselves into, and if they didnt, thats their fault." Sure it would suck if a game fails and you spend money in it, or if the developer couldnt finish the game with the budget because he made a mistake. But I dont think the dev would have to repay anything to them. Thats the point of "Back a project", in my opinion.

But that doesnt mean he should repay you, or owe you anything because you backed his project. I would suggest to devs, to just shrug at the hatemail, if they take a weekend off. I remember when Notch took a vacation from minecraft, and people were pissed about it too because they already preordered the game and demanded him to work full time to finish the game.

Personally, Yea I was dissapointed that he took a vacation because I was excited about the game at the time, but I could understand it, and I kept my annoyance to myself. Dont understand how people can think like that.
