Due to popular request (okay, actually just a couple people mentioning that they missed it), I’ve decided to start up the Video Game Kickstarter Report again!
New Projects:
Amplitude – $825k ($750k goal). 5 hours left to go. Sequel to the cult music classic Amplitude from Harmonix. This was quite the comeback story as the game languished at low funding for quite a while before getting a big boost in donations just a few days before the end.
Kaiju-a-Gogo – $20k CAD ($50k CAD goal). 19 days left to go. Looks like a fun Action/Strategy game where you control a Kaiju (aka giant monster ala Godzilla) and try to destroy the world.
Universim – $359k ($320k goal). 1 day left to go. Planet Management god-sim with impressive visuals.
Superhot – $177k ($100k goal). 21 days left to go. A stylish FPS where time only moves when you do.
Zenzizenzic – €1.5k (€2k goal). 12 days left to go. Twin-stick shmup with a unique abstract look.
Witchmarsh – £39k (£50k goal). 23 days left to go. Side scrolling Action/RPG with a party. 1920s investigative team (I assume Lovecraftian horrors). Has neat retro visuals ala Sword & Sworcery & a soundtrack from Francisco Cerda (Jamestown). Probably the project I’m most excited about personally.
Thanks for restarting the report! I’ve missed your weekly reviews.
I’m not too shocked by Amplitude getting funded. I know they did a lot of promotion through twitter, doing a streaming telethon, and probably a lot of other things. I also saw that the Skullgirls devs apparently donated to the level that let them add a song from Skullgirls to Amplitude ($7500), so perhaps some of the other large donations were similar. Regardless, despite not being particularly interested in Amplitude myself, I LOVE Harmonix and they are the first Kickstarter I’ve backed, mostly because I didn’t think they would fund and I felt I should try to help, and I know they will deliver.
There is also Exogenesis : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2921787/exogenesis-post-apocalyptic-tokyo-adventure-visual
It just ended, but Paypal donations is open 🙂
I missed it! Your weekly reports are basically the only way I get news about kickstarters; because I’m lazy and don’t feel like scrawling through the kickstarter website myself.
Thank you for mentioning Zenzizenzic, much appreciate it 🙂
I feel so tiny with just a €2k goal haha.
Cheers,
Ruud – dev of Zenzizenzic
