  1. Hi!

How do I prevent the game from crashing at the introscene on windows 10?

I’ve reinstalled the .NET and .XNA redistributables as well as the windows media feature pack. The game just don’t want to work. At some point I was able to play it, but it no longer works, do you know what might fix the problem?

    Keep up the great work.

  2. We were not involved with any of the Mac games (and we didn’t even make Precipice 1 & 2). Your best bet is to contact Hothead Games about 1 & 2 and Tinkerhouse Games about 3.

  3. I have purchased rain slick POD 1,2, and 3, for my macbook pro–about 1 year old. I cannot get any of them to load. Just blank screens. Please help.

I am running the latest OSX

  4. I bought Preciples of darness 3 long time ago, but now it isn’t working. I receive LGVID.AX crash error

  5. The Mobile Intel 945GM Express is far too weak of a graphics card to run any of our games.

Check out this site – http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/low_end_gpus.html – that graphics card is near the very bottom of the low-end cards.

  6. Hi, I’m running XP SP3 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop from 06. My card is a Mobile Intel 945GM Express.

I installed Rain Slick 3 and got it running, sorta. There’s no background menu screen and I have to hit enter a few times for the New Game/Options/etcetera dialogues to pop up. Then I start the game and there are no sprites. Can’t see character thumbnails during dialogue, can’t see characters moving in game, although I can see the room they’re supposed to be in.

Is this because my archaic graphics card doesn’t support the correct shaders? FFfffffuffufuffFFfthanks.

  7. After dismissing the intro screen of both games in the Steam double pack, I run into a prompt asking me to select a storage. However, it gets stuck there saying that there’s an error finding storage. Is there a solution to this? I’m running Windows 8 x64.

  8. just got the double pack and the games load up fine but when I move the character they are going way to fast also the characters as well as animated objects, like torches, are blinking so the animation for them is on turbo too. how can I fix this so everything is at a normal speed ?

  9. hello, i’ll stat off by saying how much i enjoyed playing both Breath of Death and Cthulhu Saves the World. I have recently purchased a new computer and re-installed the two games through my steam account but unfortunately it no longer loads the game and instead says “no suitable graphics card found unable to create the graphics device”. I disappointed that i can no longer play these games. I have already gone through the steam forums and even contacted them directly about this issue and they sent me here. Is their anything that i can do in order to play these games again?

  10. Have you guys ever thought about developing for the 3ds. Your RPGs would be instant buys on a portable with buttons.

  11. I’m having an issue with my recently downloaded CStW. Everything seems to be working fine, but for some reason it doesn’t seem to save properly. I create multiple save files just in case one is lost accidentally (this happened once when I was playing BoD:VII), but strangely enough when I choose to re-enter my game I am at some random point prior to when I saved it. All of my save files take me to the same place (not surprising, I suppose, given that I tend to make all of my saves in the same position), and the last re-start found me shunted right back to the beginning of the game when Cthulhu arises on the beach. Is this a problem that anyone else has found happening to them?

  12. If the game crashes at launch or right after launch, that generally means you either don’t have Windows Media Player on your computer or the XNA & .NET redistributables didn’t install properly.

  13. Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII crash as soon as the intro is over (or what i suppose as the intro is over) What can I do about it?

  14. i need windows media player to play this? *spits up drank* WHAT?
i will never install the malware crock of s*** aka win media. i know you care deeply but.. everything on my windows partition is open source besides steam and my 14gb windows folder thank you kindly.

also i said in my post i’ve reinstalled many times, reinstalling the redistributables as well but thanks for linking.

if this is a matter of win media player, well then i guess i’ll grab the bloatware and see how it goes, but its not staying with me for a second longer than needs to be to beat the games and then my registry is being cleaned over 9000. i guess this makes sense as this game was released on xbox.

    cheers

edit: windows media player has solved game crashing. what a cruel world we live in.

  15. If the game is crashing at or near start, it’s generally a problem with either one of the XNA or .NET redistributables not being properly installed or Windows Media Player. Try deleting the games and reinstalling them.

Or you can try manually installing the redistributables:

  16. I’ve tried playing both of these tonight, and neither get past the intro. I’ve seen these games before and really want to experience more than just intro music and what seems like some good lore =)

Breath of Death gave me this error without fail after the screen goes dark at “beneath the secrets of the past…” steam overlay as well as the esc key also will crash it with the same error.

Cstw got to opening and crashing but i once out of around 15 tries got it to play 10 seconds of the intro at what seems like slightly slow speed and then windows checked for a solution again.

I’m using steam, win7 64bit, mother of a computer, let everything properly install on first launch (although they both hung around for 1-2 minutes which is long compared to what i’m used to for microsoft visual and that type of stuff) and uh well i paid money for them so i’d like to play them. any help is appreciated. yes i tried reinstalling. its late, wheres my pillow.

  17. can i just say that i love cthulhu saves the world the humor and references, easter eggs, and all sorts of little knotches remindes me of a final fantasy with the humor of earthbound thank you so much for the great experiace at a low low price also “shirts can not contain the awsomeness that is CTHULHU”!!!!

  18. If you guys keep making awesome and funny RPGs I’ll keep buying them.

  19. Just installed CStW, but the sound is all wonky.

I either get sound during a battle or I get sound outside in a dungeon, but never both consecutively, unless it is randomly switching between the two. By that I mean if I do get battle music and dungeon music, the next battle will not have music.

Is it a bug? What can I do to fix it?

  20. There have been countless installation errors throughout this whole process, from trying to install Steam, now trying to get CSTW to start. I’ve tried installing ms .net framework which also has a fatal error during installation. Now I am trying to fix that. I’ve been trying to play CSTW for 2 days and I’m about to give up. Is there a way to get it on a CD or something that doesn’t require Steam, PS3, or Xbox 360?

I haven’t been this excited about a game in a long time, but all the hassles are too much.

  21. Hi Guys

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed ‘Cthulhu saves the world’ it’s a cracking old school RPG, and by far the best game I’ve played on my xbox 360! So I’d just like to say that you’re awesome!!

    Matt

  22. Are the system requirements for Cthulhu or Breath of Death posted anywhere?
The Cthulhu threads in the forums are full of posts about crashes, hangs, & error messages. Lots of comments about graphics card specs, but I can’t find the actual requirements for the game anywhere.

  23. I picked up the Breath of Death VII on Steam. Playing it through Hard mode on the first play-through, and for whatever reason, SARA always regenerates her MP to max after every battle. Don’t know where else I can report this issue.

  24. Just bought the game off steam and I’m having trouble with the game reading my logitech controller. I’ve read people got it t work with 360 controllers on PCs is it just those or am I missing something?

  25. Great job on your two games! Keep up the good work and can not wate for your next game

    Dennis from Washington

  26. BOD is what ive been missing for the last 10 years. the new rpg’s suck more whatching than playing. i love the old school rpg nothing can beat all of them. like final fantacy for the nes and the snes damn what happend to the good old days.

  27. Wanted to say great job with BOD:7, its also a great value, I would have happily paid $5 bucks for that game. I eagerly await Cthulhu Saves the World and can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in the future.
The Phantasy Star titles were always my favorite of the old school series, and although BOD is closer in style to Dragon Warrior, it is nice to play that style of RPG again. Maybe a couple games down the line you could work in the Grandia or Chrono Trigger style combat system or maybe even a Warsong style strategy/rpg game. I’d pay for that! Heck I’d pay for someone to pretty up the resolution on those old games and sell them to me as-is.
Well, keep up on the good work!

  28. I liked BOD vii, and can’t wait for Cthulhu Saves The World. The only thing that bothered me about Breath of Death is the humor. RPG parodies have been done to death and references can only go so far. I just would like to see some new jokes. Either way, I enjoyed Breath of Death, loved the battle system, and plan to download CSTW when that comes out!

  29. Breath of Death VII is awesome. And for those who wrote the Mass Effect joke in Chapter 3, you sneaky bastiches…

  30. I just purchased BD7 and I love it. I was hoping to find a jpeg of the entire world map on the net. I liked getting those fold out maps with the old games and plastering them on my wall.

    Thank you

  31. Hey – we just videoreviewed your game – http://indienerds.com/wordpress/?p=256. Have a look.

  32. Looks like lots of publicity is going around for your game it’s now talked about on Yahoo!. Here’s the link if your interested to check it out. http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/plugged-in/great-games-for-under-a-buck/1401140

  33. Can I just say I loved BoD:VII? I’m going to go back and buy your other two games now; tragically, I missed them prior to now.

    Basically, thank you.

  34. Excellent! I love this game, got it on Xbox Live Indie for the dollar, would have paid more on Arcade, it deserves it 🙂 It brings me back to my childhood 🙂 Thanks for all your hard work.
