Some more Cthulhu Saves the World media for you.

First, we have some screenshots of the first town in the game. Townsfolk haven’t been added yet, but this ought to give you a nice idea of the kind of visual improvement we’ve made since our last game.

Next, we have some animated GIFs of 2 of our main characters – Cthulhu himself and the lovely Umi.

Finally, we have some additional songs from the game. We’re planning on releasing the entire soundtrack for free when the game comes out, but in the meantime, we hope you enjoy the music from two of the dungeon types – Caves & Shrines.

  1. Wow, this looks really great. I really enjoyed BoD7, and it looks like you’ve substantially improved the engine for this new release! I will also echo Glen McKnight’s comment regarding YouTube postings. Seeing the game in action should be good for some word of mouth exposure!

  2. Thanks for the GameSpot request!

As for T-Shirt & a webcomic, those are interesting ideas which we’ll consider. They would be a lot of work though and I’m not sure if they would be worth the effort, but maybe.

  3. Just a heads up…
I’ve contacted the Gamespot.com staff with a request that they conduct a formal review of Cthulhu Saves the World. Considering they’ve never done a review for an XBIG game, it’s perhaps a stretch. But I think I made a good argument for it, and, well, you never know. Best! – TechnologoDoom

  4. I am practically drooling over this. I picked up BoDVII today after LOVING the demo a while back, and I am excited for this. Looks amazing!

  5. Have to say I stumbled across your blog today. Funny I didn’t realize I had already bought 2 of your games until reading this, both quite funny, Molly, and Breath of Death.

I notice you ponder on the thoughts about how to improve your game, sell more, and really make it your business.

Don’t underestimate the power of building loyal fans, and selling merch. I know many a web comic kid who survived on having t-shirts.
Writing seems to be your joy, and you have the breath of death characters.
Consider starting T-Shirts with something as simple as Zazzle. You probably wont sell a lot, but then start thinking of ways to bring people back to your site regularly. A web comic about your characters would be a great start.
Copy something like 8-bit theater, you dont really need much art, and it could be an extension of the universe.

Obviously its easy for me to tell you what to do and thats unfair, I just think you have a talent, and understand how hard the indie space is. For what its worth I do tell people to buy your game every time Xbox download games come up.

Oh last idea, and I will stop. Youtube videos of game in progress. The internet loves video, I often see posts on blogs that only have a stack of screenshots and I quickly move past, but if its got a video with motion, sound, i feel compelled to click. The commercial rule is good keep it short 15-30 seconds is all it needs to be.

  6. Looking good! I’m reminded a lot of Shining Force, which is a *good* thing.

    Keep it up!

    James

  7. You guys are officially awesome! I think that’s the 3rd or 4th time I said that this week… 😉
