We are pleased to announce that Zeboyd Games has already made more revenue in less than a week on Steam than we have in over a year and a half on the XBox Live Indie Games service.

Thank you again to everyone who has made this huge success possible!

  1. Your games are so awesome. I remember playing a bunch of JRPGs when I was little, and your games are excellently done both as funny parodies and in terms of gameplay. Bought both games off of Steam, one of the best deals I’ve seen on there for the 3 years I’ve been signed up. Grats on the revenue, you all earned it!

  2. I had already bought CSTW on XboxLive, but at $3 I don’t see a reason not to have it on my laptop! Highly recommended pack!

  3. Never heard of the games before until I saw the double pack on steam.

Didn’t think much of it since I never played any of the classics back in the NES era.
Bought them for the hell of it and played through Breath of Death VII within 7 hours.
    I don’t regret anything.
I loved every second of it and I have yet to play the apparently superior second game of this developer.

If I could say anything to them it’d probably be:
    Make more of these games.

  4. I’m only about an hour in and these games are like slipping on an old pair of shoes… I feel like I’m 12 years old again and playing Final Fantasy II on my friends SNES in his basement at 3 in the morning. I’d love to see what you come up with next. My personal vote would be something that draws inspiration from the old Might and Magic or Wizardry games from around the Xeen and Dark Savant time period but more 16 bit isometric would be awesome too.

  5. I saw the name, the screenshots, the PRICE, I immediatly bought it, haven’t launched it yet, but looking at the comments on this site, maybe I should.. Soon..

  6. Great games. CSTW is awsome. Now that you got some phat cash it is time to make something better, your fans will be waiting for the next game.

  7. Hi! Well, I finished Breath of Death VII yesterday in Hard Mode. I bought the pack on Steam, because I love retro games, and it’s even better RPG stuff! Ok, for first time, I thought Breath of Death VII was a really bad game!! But I played it a bit more, for check it out, and I got a great surprise, the game was perfect!! There is no some simple, but amazing RPG’s and, I think this is the best I played. Ever. Keep it up guys!

  8. I bought the game on Steam and loved. I would like to see more, thank you for releasing for PC.

    PC Rules

  9. I saw your games released on XBL months ago and decided not to get them as XBL is horrendous when compared to Steam.
That said I got your games on Steam recently and I adore them, I’ll make sure to buy your next game the day it’s released to us PC fellows.

  10. I’m glad you’re having such great success on Steam! I already have the games on xbox, but got them on steam as well. paying a total of 6 bucks for them is very reasonable, and I want you to make more! I would really love to see a 40+ hour epic if the steam money provides you w/ enough funds/resources to do such a project. I prefer the games on PC. Don’t let the xbox fan boys crying get to you. You deserve recognition/financial success for all your hard work, and it must be obvious what platform will take you farther. I’m a 30 year old gamer, and I would always rather have a game on PC then console. PC gaming is in an amazing state of renewal, and embrace indie developers. Xbox likes to hide them away and pump banner ads for cheeseball games.

  11. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea why you guys didn’t realize sooner that the PC is a better platform for a quirky game about Lovecraft mythos than– well, any mainstream console would be.

  12. 100% PC gamer here, havnt even touched a console in years now.
A huge thing that irritates us PC gamers are when a developer switches over to console, and then just feeds us with seriously bad ports (some are fine, most are not).
We understand why they do it, but just wish they would put some effort into their ports and remember who helped them get off the ground in the first place.

That said, dont forget your console roots and those that backed you.

    Congrats! 🙂

  13. Congratulations! I’m so glad you bought these games to the PC. PC is the home of Indie. Indie games are what make up my top games this year, including yours.

Thanks again and I hope all your future releases are on PC 😀

  14. I just want to point out something to some people who apparently think they know everything

I knew absolutely nothing about either of these games, hell when I saw them on steam I thought they had JUST been released (thats how most of the indie pc titles are) and the biggest reason I picked it up was the price tag, you almost can’t NOT buy it, not to mention, Steam, unlike XBLA (let alone Indie) almost always have new releases(regardless of who released it) RIGHT IN YOUR FACE as soon as you sign in

So yes part of it are all you old fans sure, but a HUGE part of it is because its so cheap and steam has a great PR system

My advice to Zeboyd, if it costs you more money to get put on Xbox live, then stop using it, Steam is free to consumer AND great to developers, the deals are cheaper then Xbox, and if all the “so called fans” complain about it, well they have a computer right? otherwise they wouldn’t be complaining? then they can shut up and buy it on steam from now on, besides, at least on steam you can even have achievements

  15. I don’t understand why this has to turn into Xbox vs PC argument. Its not an argument at all – its about a talented developer doing well on Steam, and thats it.

I’m always impressed by how much support Steam gives indy devs, indy devs = less mainstream games, which is always a total win.

  16. I’m not sure if this is more a testament to the power of Steam to move sales of pretty much -any- game… or if it’s a testament to just how little attention X-Box Live’s Indie Games actually get.

But, congratulations either way, you guys.

  17. Its simple, computers arent my gaming system, my xbox is. It isn’t bad to want a developer who started on your game system of choice to keep releasing games on said system even when they start releasing to other places. Its known as multi-platform.

  18. I contributed towards your Kickstarter project as soon as I saw it a while back and bought the and bought the game on Steam, very good game that’s well written, worth at least £15 but it’s good that you’ve seen huge success and it’s well deserved.

  19. Hey guys, I just picked up the games a couple weeks ago and I just beat BOD:VII tonight and am starting into CSTW. You guys got mentioned on Gamespot’s hotspot podcast (I’m pretty sure it was Hotspot, I listen to a lot of podcasts), so send some love to them, cause that’s how I heard about the game.

  20. Awesome news! I didn’t want to buy your games on xblig because I hate how its setup. You have to be connected on xbl always to play them (I’m not always able to do that), and a majority of the games are junk, so I don’t even bother looking in them. So glad you went to pc, now I can finally play your games!

  21. Nicely done! I bought it the day it came out on steam since steam desperately lacks these types of games, hope to see more from you guys in the future!

  22. Congratulations guys. Totally not understanding people using foul language, demanding you stay on XBLIG, though. They have to have a computer to even be posting here, and it’s not like these games have high system requirements. I don’t get how any of you couldn’t buy the next game on Steam/Gamersgate if it was released there.

  23. I have both your games on my PC, and my XBox! I was so excited to see they were on steam since I rarely ever play on my Xbox anymore.

  24. Congrats, guys! I got your games on Steam as well and they’re great! Make an epically long one for us now, buddy!

  25. Feel free to forget XBLA. After reading your assessment of Microsoft’s commitment to fair trade on it, I view it as lucky they even had you at all. XBLA was your George Lazenby.

  26. Hey, I’ve been wanting to play both games since I saw them out for the good old Xbox, problem was that I live in Australia and the content was unavailable in my region… Now that it’s on steam, I don’t have much of an excuse to not get it 😀

  27. thats great i bought it on both though i used to have live and bought it and bought it again earlier this weeks its 2.99 support the devs

  28. It wouldn’t of made much because people who don’t know about the game would have a hard time justifying the price tag arcade titles get with the graphics zeboyd uses.

Good to hear you all had a good computer run. But as was mentioned earlier, don’t forget those fans who helped you get there. I would hate to have posted about these games everywhere I frequent just to have Zeboyd turn their backs on me and the other xbox fans.

  29. That’s awesome! I wonder how much it could have made if it was on Xbox Live Arcade instead of XBLIG

  30. Great game, i have been playing it for two days and loving every minute of it. Breath of Death has taken me back to my childhood of great RPGs that didnt depend on super high end rendered videos just to keep you sitting there. Cant wait to see what you have coming up next for both PC and XBL

  31. Great game! I just bought it after hearing about it from some friends! Could you put some concept art up on the site? I’m an instant fan guys, I’ll tell all my friends to buy Cthulu as well, it’s a gem!

  32. Well deserved! I played about 5 hours of the game and enjoyed it so much that I offered a couple of copies to some steam friends. easy as pie to gift the game to someone who might enjoy it as much as I do.

Thanks for the great games and please release the next one on steam and xbox at the same time. Me and a few friends of mine will be waiting for it 🙂

  33. Very nice – given the fact that your games were not exactly shelf warmer (for xblig conditions), this must mean you actually earned money on steam. Congratulations!!
I guess Zeboyd games are not to vanish in the future. 🙂

  34. Hey Ercan SUCK IT without Xbl indies you wouldnt have these games, im glad for thier steam success but dont forget many on xbl indies still support you guys. I hope to see your next game on console zeboyd. Please dont forget us.

  35. I just bought it off Steam and I absolutely love it! Thank you so much for releasing it. I’m a ps3 man myself but I am glad i finally got to play this game! I’ve told all my friends about it. Steam is a far better platform than XBLIG will ever be. Trust in steam.

  36. So glad to hear that. Those Steam sales do wonders, for the devs and for people that are looking to try something new. Here’s to a bright future!

  37. You make us all proud. Those of us who have better luck breaking into the PC download market will have you to thank for beating the trail.

    So Lamborghini, yellow or red?

  38. Awesome! I’m so glad that it worked out of you. Would you say that it’s more cost effective for an indie dev to just release their game on Steam (if you can) and not even bother with XBLIG?

  39. Congrats! That’s amazing news! I believe you are allowed to link directly to the sales pages on Steam, rather than to the Xbox Marketplace page, from your ads on this page (many more people can play it on Steam than on XBLIG).

  40. Congrats. I hope PC will be main platform for you then. PC gamers are better and thankful then console gamers.
