We are pleased to announce that Hyperduck will be providing the soundtrack for Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 4! Hyperduck has done the soundtrack to a number of indie games but they’re probably best known for their work on the amazing Dust: An Elysian Tail soundtrack. We asked them to do a couple of songs for us for the upcoming Rake DLC for Rain-Slick 3 and we were so impressed with their work that we decided to ask them to do the entire soundtrack for Rain-Slick 4.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, here’s a sneak peak of the wonderful work they’re doing. I present to you, the battle theme for Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 4!

  1. Yeah, that does sound rather odd for a combat theme for a game like precipice. The first thing that popped up my head when I heard the first 10 seconds of it was that fight in Final Fantasy 10 against Jecht. His theme was so unexpected, but so awesome as it just came out of nowhere….shame I killed him in one hit =( didn’t get to listen to it long at all.

  2. it was a cool song, don’t really see it working well in rain slick 4 though, especially not as a normal battle theme.

  3. It’s really good battle music, but it doesn’t sound like something you would find in a retro 16-bit game. Rain-Slick 3’s battle theme may not have been very epic, but it sounded like something I would hear from a SNES game. Rain-Slick 3 had retro music to match the retro graphics, and I thought that making the games have a SNES-RPG feel was what you were aiming for. Or, at least, I thought I heard you say that somewhere. So I’m confused. Not necessarily displeased–just confused.

  4. That is one rocking ass theme, is that the standard battle theme? Seems like a rather intense boss fight. Though considering how RS3 ended, I’m guessing it’s an endless boss rush.

    Diggin’ the music.
