This week has been fairly quiet as far as new kickstarters, however there are a few that have caught my attention.

First, we have Kaiju Combat – an online giant monster fighting game. This game actually went up on Kickstarter back in July and was unsuccessful but this time, they’ve lowered their ambitions (not going after the official Godzilla license ASAP although they’re not ruling it out for later) and their funding target (from $350k down to the more reasonable $100k). They also have a giant chicken monster for their opening image. They’re up to $19k with 35 days left to go so I’d say they’ve got a shot.

Next, we have Fist of Awesome – a ridiculous super-retro beatem-up designed to be highly playable with mobile controls. And well, it has a time travelling lumberjack uppercutting a bear, what’s not to love? They’re over £1k funding so far and they’re only asking for £5k with 25 days left so I’m guessing this will probably succeed.

Finally, here’s what I think is the most interesting new kickstarter – Retro Game Crunch. A few indie developers are teaming up to do six month-long game jams – prototype the game in 3 days, then use the rest of the month to polish it up. A donation of $25 gets you all six games. They’ve got $18k so far and they’re asking for $60k with 25 days left to go.

  1. One campaign I’m really looking forward to is Eternal Eden: Ecclesia. It hasn’t started to pick up steam yet, but it looks really promising. The developer is coming out with a trailer soon, so keep an eye out for that. Indiegogo page: http://www.indiegogo.com/EEE.

  2. I’m really hopeful about Hero-U. QfG was so much fun, I’d love another game in a similar vein by the creators. There’s still 3 days left, so plenty of time for more backers!
