This week is all about the revivals of famous old series. First, we have Molyneux’s Project Godus – a sequel to Populous. Some individuals have criticized 22cans for doing this kickstarter so soon after their last game, Curiosity, which had serious problems (they seriously underestimated how many people would play it and as a result their server couldn’t handle the load). There have also been complaints that they’re doing a kickstarter at all since Molyneux could easily raise the money via traditional means. In any case, it’s up to £105k of its £450k goal with 28 days left to go.

Another big classic game series gets a kickstarter this week in the form of Dizzy Returns. Dizzy was never very popular in the US (I don’t think most of the games even came out here) but I hear it enjoyed a lot of success in Europe. It’s about an humanoid egg who goes on adventures…yeah, I’m not making this up. They’re looking for £350k and they’ve got £4k so far (although they just went up today so that could go up rapidly). 27 days left to go.

Finally, let’s finish this week’s report with an interesting indie kickstarter project – LA Game Space. They’re seeking to create a non-profit center in Los Angeles for the study & celebration of video games. They will have exhibitions, special speakers & workshops, and also provide workspace for non-commercial indie game development. The rewards are especially interesting and include a new game from the creator of Kamatari Damacy and a collection of 30 experimental games from various indie developers. They’re up to $88k of their $250k goal with 14 days left to go.

  1. I am SO excited for Shadowgate! They are so close to their goal. I will be immensely sad for them if they fail at this point… (within $5k of their total goal with 50+ hours left to go) I am spreading the word.

Thanks so much Zeboyd, for doing these lists.

  2. The biggest news for me here is the Dizzy game! As a UK gamer I can say I used to follow this series of games more so then any other – back when I could get games on Pocket Money down as WH SMith. He was so big he was put into puzzle games and weird driving ones.. kinda (Dizzy Down The Rapids). I am Especially hyped as it seems to be being done by the Oliver Twins themselves. Man I am so glad you do these links. I’d of missed this otherwise no doubt! Thanks!
