Since we missed a few weeks, lots of games to talk about today.

First up, we have another kickstarter from Double Fine – Massive Chalice. It’s a turn-based Strategy strategy game set in a fantasy setting for PC and has raised $943k of its $725k goal with 13 days left to go. I’m a little disappointed that their previous kickstarter project still hasn’t been released yet, but I guess when you receive over 8 times your initial funding request, a certain amount of feature bloat isn’t that surprising.

Next, we have The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers. This project seeks to create the most comprehensive book of Japanese video game history, filled with interviews, stories, and trivia. It has received £27k of its £50k goal with 15 days left to go.

Afterland is a CCG for mobile devices with gorgeous Tim Burton-esque art. It has $15k of its $32k goal with 12 days left to go.

Unrest is an RPG set in India, featuring a detailed conversation system, avoidable combat, and an adaptable narrative. And I gotta say, it’s nice to see an RPG that isn’t set in a stereotypical fantasy environment. It currently has $26k raised ($3k goal) with 7 days left to go.

A Vampyre Story: Year One is a prequel to the 2008 point & click adventure game, A Vampyre Story. It’s only at $42k of its $200k goal with 16 days left to go so this one’s fate is up in the air but it’ll be interesting to see if it can make a last minute recovery.

Last, we have Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet – a comedy point & click adventure game. The kickstarter video made me laugh which bodes well for the game’s prospects. It’s at £11k of its £15k goal with 14 days left to go.

And that’s it for new kickstarters this week! In other news, it looks like we’ll probably be doing our own kickstarter for our next RPG. More news on that when we get closer to the date (still a few months away).

  1. I guess they’re planning to release Afterland eventually for Facebook. I was wondering why they weren’t going to release it on non-mobile devices. It seemed like such a waste because the art looks really good.

  2. It’s probably just because I’m really excited for the game, but I’m a little disappointed you almost all of the Massive Chalice talking about how Broken Age isn’t out yet. As they mention in the Kickstarter video, there are several teams at Double Fine, and the Kickstarter will fund a game for a different team to work on while Tim Schafer and his team work on Broken Age and… presumably the other teams work on other projects.

  3. If only I had 5000 pounds for the last reward tier of The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers 🙁
