Here’s a project I missed earlier – A Hat in Time is a N64-style 3D collectathon platformer. I know some people complain that indie developers make too many 2D platformers and not enough 3D platformers; well, this one is already looking really good. It’s at $156k with 6 days left to go.

Armikrog is another project that I almost missed. It’s a clay-style adventure game from Doug TenNapel and the creators of The Neverhood and will feature the voice of Michael J. Nelson (MST3K, Rifftrax) and others. It’s at $609k of its $900k goal with 5 days to go so these last few days should be intense.

Megatokyo is one of the better known webcomics to find early success and now they’re on kickstarter to fund a Megatokyo Visual Novel. It’ll feature multiple playable characters and if they get enough money, they’ll add additional content beyond the comic. If they reach half a million, they’ll even add “Excessively Romantic Content.” I know Megatokyo had a huge fanbase a while ago, but even so, I’m impressed that they’ve managed to raise over $100k in just a few days for a visual novel. The project currently has 27 days remaining so I’m interested to see just how high it reaches.

Finally, we have Soul Saga – a 3D RPG reminiscent of the Evolution series on the Dreamcast. The game footage is off to a promising start and the project has raised half of its $60k goal with 23 days left to go. I am a little worried that $60k is on the low side for an RPG with 3D visuals of this quality but I wish them luck and would love to give it a try when it gets completed.

That’s it for this week!

  1. I backed A Hat in Time a few weeks back. That game looks great! I just backed Soul Saga as well.
