The big new kickstarter for this week just started a few hours ago. It’s a new RPG from Obsidian Entertainment called Project Eternity. Goal of $1.1 million but they’re already up to $344k after a few hours so they probably will make it. The game is designed to be a great homage to classic PC RPGs like Baldur’s Gate & Planescape: Torment and will feature the talents of Chris Avellone, Tim Cain, and Josh Sawyer.
Two Brothers is an Action/RPG with Game Boy-esque visuals. It looks like a lot of fun and is definitely reminiscent of games like Zelda and Final Fantasy Adventure. They’re up to $10k ($4k over their goal of $6k) and they have 13 days left.
This is just me talking out loud (we haven’t made any plans or anything yet), but I’m curious as to whether or not people would be interested in us doing a kickstarter to make more $1 8-bit RPGs in the Breath of Death series? We have a few story ideas for more games set in that dimension that we’d love to make but I’m not sure that there’s enough of a demand for 8-bit style RPGs to justify taking time away from our bigger projects to do them (or time away from our free time if we really want to keep things on track). Just off the top of my head, I’m thinking something like $50k for 4 bite-sized RPGs (and by bite-sized, I mean each would be roughly the length of Breath of Death VII) would help cover some of the costs of development & would show that there’s enough demand to justify doing the project. What does everyone think?
I totally support this idea, would buy them definitely, I’ve played through BoDVII and I’m now playing CStW
Is it just me, or does it seem like the big companies like Obsidian and others are starting to see Kickstarter as a method of selling 50 different Collector’s Editions of games for upwards of $10,000+ and collect pre-orders?
Considering the value on BoDVII and CStW, I’d gladly support a Kickstarter for $10 or $15, i.e. 2-3X the price, to see 4 more come out. I’d argue that I’m still coming out on top at that price.

Since BoD started at VII, you should make the sequels count down instead of up. So BoD VI, BoD V, BoD IV etc. This could just be for the title, or there might be some story and gameplay tie ins as well.
Stupid question. Where can I pledge? 😉
Yeah, I would love to see something new from you guys, even though I prefer the CTSW style over the BoD.
I would back this kickstarter idea in a heartbeat.
I’d back it in an instant.
Yes. I’d back it.
I’d definitely back more of your games. You’ve all but ruined me on older JRPGs because of how you handle random encounters, now other games just seem horribly aggravating by comparison 🙂
You are offering us to PAY you to make MORE games?
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
I would absolutley fund that!
Count me in as someone who would kickstart more BoD style games.
I’d be in for it. You have a lot of material to work with in the BoD universe.
YES! I love BoD, and I’ve always hoped for more installments of that series. I would absolutely support it.
I would definitely back you, but please consider mac support!
If you do one, I’d definitely chime in with $100. Just one requirement: Awesome Music! All games had this really awesome, retro soundtrack.
Hellz yea Zeboyd!
I love PA3 but it seems lacking in the kind of humor and charm I love in CStW and BoD … if you guys started a kickstarter (wow that sounds redundant) i would be obliged to buy into one for the first time.
Abso-freakin-lutely
I would kickstart you guys. I like the idea of small bite sized stories.
I’m very excited about SolForge. They had an amusing livestream to count down the end of their kickstarter. They even talked one of the viewers into doing a last minute $10,000 pledge.
I say do your own kickstarter. I’d back it.
I would do it. Most defiantly. BoD was the game that got me into indie gaming in the first place, all those few years ago. I’d love to see more.
I love zeboyd’s style, humor and story telling. I enjoyed CSTW and BoD, and the latest penny arcade episode 3. The $1 is a steal for anything you guys make to be honest. 🙂 So yes, I would support it.
I’ve bought all your other games and enjoyed the hell out of them. If you put up a Kickstarter I will pledge for sure.
I would buy 4 quality RPGs of bite-size proportions. Sure!
If you do that kickstarter, I would pledge at least $100. Would depend on rewards. I only speak for myself, of course, but I’m just sayin’.
