Hello again, Bill Stiernberg here, and welcome back to the Weekly Art article!
I’ve been getting a number of requests to do Phantasy Star artwork, so I drew up Alys Brangwin. I also received a funny and well-done CSTW fan art a few days ago that must be shared :). Lastly, I got a request to post a .gif of the Dude on a Walrus enemy from RS3 for use as a forum avatar, so I obliged.
Alys is the top hunter of the Hunter’s Guild. Her exploits have earned her the nickname “The Eight Strokes Warrior,” or even “Alys the Dismemberer.” While appearing cold and indifferent to strangers, She is highly regarded by people who are more familiar with her.
Alys fights with, yes, indeed.. high tech BOOMERANGS. If that’s not awesome. If that’s not awesome.. what is awesome. Really.
And now we have some pretty funny CSTW fan art drawn up and sent to me by LittleEiko87 on DeviantArt:
This is her “alternate ending” for the game, haha. She did a great job capturing the characters and their respective looks. Although, my favorite part is probably the terrified Paws. Or maybe the Deep One doll the daughter is holding. Good attention to detail! 😛
Today I’m also going to post an animated GIF of the Dude on a Walrus. This is by far the fan favorite enemy in Rainslick3. Which is why I drew this.
But I got a request for a GIF of the enemy to use as a forum avatar, so here it is:
I’ll post a larger one as well:
Thanks for checking it out the art this week! Feel free to send me any fan art you’ve done and I’ll post it Send me requests in the comments or via twitter (below) as well if you like!
OK back to work on Rainslick4.

I have a request! Not sure how interesting it would be to draw, but I’d love to see some art of Yog Modaigh, the God of Death, from Rain-Slick 3. I think it’d be interesting to see how you would interpret that enemy in a drawing. Just a suggestion!
I like the Alys picture, though kinda made me sad remembering what happened to her. Ahh, the good old days when text and pictures alone could make you feel emotion. It almost feels like a lost art nowadays.
I know the whole “eight strokes” thing is a mistranslation of something like, “she will beat you to death.”
We all know Wren was the true champion of phantasy star. We need some Wren artwork
Awesome, thanks!
